Stone Dawn was put together by George & Robb Snyder. The first band "The
Rocking Beethoven's" was George on snare drum / hi-hat and Robb on
accordion. A short time later they realized the need for guitar & bass. Robb
switched to guitar & George to a full drum kit (one by one they would become
a five piece band). They drafted Marty Ahearn in as a singer as he knew all
the words to the Beach Boys songs. Robb gave Marty one of Madeline Manney's
(Geo's mom) guitars & showed him a couple of chords & as fast as you can say
"Wow"... he was in! Marty liked the guitar so much he took some lessons &
became a very good player. Then Robb moved over to bass. Now the three were
known as the "Outcasts". Next stepped in was Penny Stubbs. They changed the
name to "Stone Dawn' from a dream George had (rocks in his head). The last
member to join Stone Dawn was George Carnell. George & George knew each
other from playing the local school dances. They did a demo w/ Nick Jameson
(American Dream) & George M. took the demo to New York and not a bite. Later
George sent a letter to Paul McCartney @ Apple records about the Stone Dawn
demo & the rest is history...... they never got signed. The world missed
out! (you can see Geo's letter from Apple Records on the Beatles archive
page) The band went there seperate ways. Later in 1979 George M., Robb &
Marty teamed up w/ former American Dream lead singer Nicky Indelicato to
form the band "Snipz".
