American Bandstand: In 1952 Dick Clark
(Richard Wagstaff Clark) auditioned @
WFIL in Philadelphia, which had
begun a local TV show called "Bandstand".
Dick became the shows host in
1956. Later he convinced the ABC network to
broadcast the show
nationally. August 5, 1957 "American Bandstand" made it's
national
network debut.
Dick had close connections w/ the Philadelphia
Independent Record label:
Cameo - Parkway & many of it's recording
roster appeared on "Bandstand"
